Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • ½ cup soy sauce (regular or low-sodium)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1–2 tsp sriracha or chili paste (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional)
  • Sesame seeds & sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry using paper towels.
  2. Lightly season the chicken with salt, if desired.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and sriracha.
  4. Add the drumsticks to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated.
  5. Marinate for 20 minutes or refrigerate for up to 4 hours.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).
  7. Arrange the drumsticks on a foil-lined baking sheet or in a baking dish.
  8. Reserve any leftover marinade for later use.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
  10. While baking, heat the reserved marinade in a pot and bring it to a boil for 1-2 minutes.
  11. If preferred, mix cornstarch with water and add to the boiling marinade to thicken.
  12. Brush the glaze over the drumsticks during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking.
  13. Broil for an extra 1-2 minutes if desired.
  14. Brush with any remaining glaze before serving and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption. These drumsticks are great served with steamed vegetables or rice.
