Ingredients

Scale
  • Chicken pieces
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Flour for dredging
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken pieces in buttermilk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, allspice, and thyme for at least 120 minutes or overnight.
  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and coat in flour.
  4. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 10-15 minutes per side.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Allow marinated chicken to reach room temperature before frying for even cooking. Let fried chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
