Flavor-packed chicken wings that are tender yet crispy, enhanced by a homemade honey barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken wings
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • Cooking spray
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Chopped parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Pat dry all the chicken wings using a paper towel.
  3. In a large, shallow bowl, mix the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Toss the chicken wings in the seasoning mixture, ensuring they coat thoroughly.
  5. Rub the seasonings in well for maximum flavor.
  6. Apply cooking spray evenly on the coated wings.
  7. Place the wings in the air fryer basket. Cook for 9 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 9 minutes.
  8. Check that the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit upon completion.
  9. While the wings cook, combine the barbecue sauce, honey, brown sugar, orange juice, ketchup, and soy sauce in a medium-sized saucepan.
  10. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes, letting it thicken slightly.
  11. Once the chicken wings are done, toss them in the honey barbecue sauce until fully coated.

Notes

For extra crispy results, marinate the wings in the spice blend for at least 30 minutes before coating with cornstarch.
