This Chicken Parmesan recipe features crispy breaded chicken topped with savory marinara and gooey melted cheese, bringing restaurant-quality flavors to your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-seasoned)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness using a meat mallet.
  3. Mix together the flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  4. Set up your breading station with the flour mixture, the beaten eggs, and the breadcrumbs.
  5. Dip each chicken breast into the flour mixture, coating it well, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry each breaded chicken breast for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  7. Place the chicken in a greased baking dish. Pour marinara sauce over each piece and sprinkle generously with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  9. Allow the dish to rest for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh basil, if desired.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil the dish for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of baking. Rest the chicken to allow juices to redistribute for tenderness.
