  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by marinating the chicken in yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté the onion until golden brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the marinated chicken and cook until browned.
  5. Next, add the crushed tomatoes and allow to simmer for about 20 minutes.
  6. Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Finally, garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

For maximum flavor, consider marinating the chicken overnight. Serve over basmati rice or with naan.
