  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. If you desire crispiness, place a wire rack on top.
  2. Pat the chicken legs dry with paper towels.
  3. Drizzle the avocado oil over the chicken legs and rub it evenly across each piece.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the oil-coated chicken legs, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  6. Arrange the chicken legs on the baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the skin appears crisp.
  8. Remove the chicken from the oven and generously brush each piece with barbecue sauce.
  9. Return the chicken to the oven for another 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to become bubbly and caramelized.
