  • 2 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in a bowl with soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and bay leaves for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the sliced onions until they become translucent.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides.
  5. Pour in the water and toss in the black peppercorns.
  6. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cover.
  7. Cook for about 30 minutes until the chicken is tender.
  8. Remove the lid and let the sauce reduce to your desired consistency.
  9. Serve hot with rice.
