A sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce that elevates any dish with its rich flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon water (optional for cornstarch mixture)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. If desired, mix cornstarch and water in a separate bowl and stir it into the sauce.
  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool before using.
  6. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness by adding more honey or brown sugar if the sauce is too salty.
