Ingredients

  • Ground beef, 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams)
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) (5 grams)
  • Black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2.5 grams)
  • Garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2.5 grams)
  • Onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2.5 grams)
  • Paprika, 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) (2.5 grams)
  • Vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters)
  • Lettuce leaves, for serving
  • Tomato slices, for serving
  • Whole wheat burger buns, 4 buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat the sous vide water bath to 145°F (63°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine ground turkey, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  3. Mix the ingredients until well combined.
  4. Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions.
  5. Shape each portion into a burger patty.
  6. Place each patty in a separate resealable plastic bag.
  7. Seal the bags using the water displacement method.
  8. Submerge the bags in the preheated water bath.
  9. Cook the patties sous vide for 1.5 hours.
  10. Once cooked, remove the patties from the bags.
  11. Pat the patties dry with paper towels.
  12. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  13. Sear the patties in the skillet for 1 minute on each side.
  14. Toast the whole wheat burger buns if desired.
  15. Assemble the burgers with patties, lettuce leaves, and tomato slices.
  16. Serve the turkey burgers on buns.
