A flavorful marinated grilled chicken sandwich featuring juicy chicken, fresh toppings, and toasted buns.

  • 1 lb Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey or Maple Syrup
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper, Freshly Ground
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)
  • 46 Sandwich Buns (Brioche, Ciabatta, or favorite)
  • Lettuce Leaves (Romaine, Butter Lettuce, or Mixed Greens)
  • Tomato Slices (Ripe and Juicy)
  • Red Onion Slices (Thinly Sliced)
  • Cheese Slices (Optional: Cheddar, Provolone, or Monterey Jack recommended)
  • Your Favorite Sandwich Condiments (Optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic, Dijon mustard, honey (or maple syrup), oregano, black pepper, and salt until well combined.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal and marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 8 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high and clean the grates.
  4. Grill the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side or until fully cooked.
  5. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  6. Toast the sandwich buns and assemble with chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. Add condiments as desired before topping with the other half of the bun.

Notes

For optimal flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Experiment with different toppings and marinades for variety.
