Juicy and tender chicken legs marinated in a sweet and savory Korean Kalbi sauce, cooked to crispy perfection in an air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 chicken quarters
  • Kalbi marinade
  • ½ apple, chopped
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 2 inches of ginger, minced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks of green onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sweetener (like sugar)
  • 1 tsp of pepper
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by combining the Kalbi marinade, soy sauce, mirin, minced ginger, garlic, chopped green onion, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sweetener, and pepper in a bowl. Stir well to blend all flavors.
  2. Cut the apple into small pieces and add it to the marinade.
  3. Place the chicken quarters in a bowl or ziplock bag, pour the marinade over them, and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least one hour, preferably overnight.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
  5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and allow excess to drip off. Place in the air fryer basket, spaced out.
  6. Air fry for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  7. Serve warm, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Marinating overnight enhances flavor. Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer for even cooking.
