Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 boneless and skinless chicken breast
  • 2 slices of ham
  • 2 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 sandwich bun, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Lay the chicken breast on a clean surface and gently pound it to an even thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
  3. Season both sides of the chicken breast with garlic powder and black pepper.
  4. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  5. In a second shallow bowl, beat the egg until smooth.
  6. In a third shallow bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
  7. Dredge the chicken breast in the flour, making sure it’s evenly coated on both sides.
  8. Dip the floured chicken into the egg, letting any excess drip off.
  9. Coat the egg-covered chicken in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even layer.
  10. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  11. Once the oil and butter are hot, carefully add the chicken to the skillet.
  12. Cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F.
  13. While the chicken cooks, slice the sandwich bun and toast it lightly until golden brown.
  14. When the chicken is nearly done, place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the chicken breast, then add a slice of ham on top of the cheese.
  15. Cover the skillet for a minute to melt the cheese.
  16. Mix the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl.
  17. Spread the mayo-mustard mixture on the bottom half of the toasted bun.
  18. Place the grilled chicken breast with melted cheese and ham on top of the mayo-mustard coated bun.
  19. Top with the other half of the toasted bun to complete the sandwich.
  20. Serve immediately and enjoy!
