Delicious and juicy Greek Chicken Gyros with marinated grilled chicken, tzatziki sauce, and fresh vegetables wrapped in warm pita bread.

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pieces of warm pita bread
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • Fresh vegetables: sliced tomatoes, red onion, shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken strips to the mixture, coating them evenly with the marinade.
  3. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Place the marinated chicken on the grill and cook each side for 5-7 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  6. Let the chicken rest for a minute after grilling.
  7. Warm the pita bread briefly on the grill.
  8. Layer the warm pita with grilled chicken, tzatziki sauce, and fresh vegetables.
  9. Roll the pita tightly and serve immediately.
