A delightful combination of crispy chicken, rich marinara, and gooey mozzarella that transforms simple ingredients into a comforting staple.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip them in the beaten eggs, and coat them with the breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer the browned chicken to a baking dish. Top each piece with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is fully cooked.
  7. Optionally, garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider baking the breaded chicken instead of frying.
