A flavorful chicken teriyaki recipe that balances sweet and savory, using marinated boneless chicken thighs cooked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (brown sugar works best)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl to create the teriyaki marinade.
  2. Place the chicken thighs in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each piece is well coated. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  3. Preheat your skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade, reserving the liquid for later use.
  5. Cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side until cooked through and golden brown.
  6. Meanwhile, bring the reserved marinade to a boil in a saucepan, then reduce heat to simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.
  7. Drizzle the sauce over the cooked chicken and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For maximum flavor, aim for a four-hour marination; if short on time, a 30-minute marination still works well.
