  • 2 large chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge each chicken piece in flour, dip in beaten egg, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Transfer the chicken to a baking sheet, spoon marinara sauce over each piece, and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until the cheese bubbles and is golden.
  6. Let rest for a few minutes and top with fresh basil if desired.
