Baked chicken parmesan transforms everyday chicken breasts into a spectacular meal with a crunchy breadcrumb coating and gooey cheese.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken breast in olive oil, ensuring they are well-coated.
  4. Coat each oil-dipped chicken breast with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the mixture adheres.
  5. Place the coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Remove from the oven and top each chicken breast with marinara sauce and a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return the baking sheet to the oven for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider using panko breadcrumbs and ensure the chicken is at room temperature before cooking.
