A classic comfort dish featuring golden, crispy chicken breasts coated in breadcrumbs and cheese, topped with rich marinara and melted mozzarella.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into 4 fillets)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or Italian-style)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing the baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or brush with olive oil.
  2. Cut the chicken breasts into four fillets and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare three bowls for the breading station: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Dredge each chicken fillet in flour, dip in the eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Place the breaded fillets on the baking sheet and brush the tops with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
  7. Remove from oven, pour marinara sauce over each piece, and top with mozzarella cheese.
  8. Return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, use Panko breadcrumbs. Let chicken sit at room temperature for even cooking.
