A simple yet flavorful dish that brings together chicken marinated in soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of chicken thighs or drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup shoyu (soy sauce)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the shoyu, brown sugar, water, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place the chicken pieces in a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, coating well.
  3. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Transfer the marinated chicken to a baking dish and pour the leftover marinade on top.
  6. Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For best results, marinate the chicken overnight to enhance flavor. Serve with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables.
